It gives us immense pleasure to announce that School of Management Sciences (Technical Campus),
Lucknow (Approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to GBTU, Lucknow) is organizing a Placement
Fair in association with “Confederation of Indian Industry” (CII) on 23rd & 24th February, 2013 in its
campus.
The objective of this fair is to enhance employment opportunities for the students and offer pool of talented
students to the recruiters. We are expecting more than 3000 students of B.Tech., MCA, PGDM, MBA, BBA
& BCA to participate in this mega event. We are confident of getting participation of more than 50
companies in this Placement Fair.
A prior online registration is applicable for CII-SMS Placement Fair-2013. The registration fees for
placement fair will be ` 500/- per student. The registration fees will be payable by Demand Draft in the
name of ‘School of Management Sciences’ payable at Lucknow. You may also pay by transferring the

NATIONAL SEMINAR ON 16 th OCTOBER 2011

School of Management Sciences –Technical Campus Lucknow is organizing a One day National Seminar on “Growth of the Indian Banking Industry: A Roadmap for the Future” on 16^th October 2011.

Yet another Financial and Banking sector crisis is looming over affecting the growth and development worldwide with severe debt crisis of Euro zone, High inflationary pressure in India and low GDP growth in US .In this backdrop the significance of this seminar is without a shred of doubt and it provides opportunity to various stakeholders to come together and discuss the issues and challenges.

SMS Lucknow had organized an Industrial cum excursion trip in Titan

SMS Lucknow had organized an Industrial cum excursion trip in Titan and
Sarasai, Dehradun between 8-11 October, 2012.Students of PGDM and MBA
participated in Industrial Visit along with faculty members (Dr. Santosh
Singh, Mr. Satyajeet Asthana, Ms.Ratna Yadav of SMS-IMS Lucknow).

Students of management interacted with factory head Mr. Subrahmanyam of
Titan and our students posted specific questions on Titan’s product, their
marketing strategies and employability.

Similarly D.V.Singh – H.R. and Admin. Head of Sarasai made them visit the
entire manufacturing plant and inform them about export and import
documentation process and the overseas marker product.

The trip was successfully accomplished.

The program was inaugurated by Presiding Officer   Honorable Dr. Amerendra Sahoo ; Expert in Banking Industry and Chief Guest P.K Bansal ; GM Union Bank of India. It also witnessed participation of other Excellencies from different sphere of Banking.  Program was graced by Mr. S.K Chatterjee; Director BIRD Lucknow (Banker Institute of Rural Development), Mr. P.K Pattanaik Chairman; Aryavrat Gramin Bank (Sponsored by Bank of India), Mr. C.P Shukla Retd. M.D., UP Cooperative Bank Ltd. Dr. Sanjeev Kapoor ;Associate Prof  IIM –Lucknow ,Mr. Ashwani Kumar Singh Retd. DGM PNB, Mr. Hari Mohan AGM Allahabad Bank, Mr. Vikas Mathur, AGM, Reg. Head-Retail Banking, ICICI Bank, Mr. Sujeet Ku-DGM IDBI Bank, Mr Apurv Gupta, Dy. V.P., Axis Bank .The experts discussed various issues affecting Banking Industry , Rural Credit and challenges of Consolidation and Competition for Indian Banking industry in globalised economy.

Simultaneously Academician and Research Scholars got opportunity to analyse conceptually and present papers on different issues confronting Indian Banking Scenario. The Judges were honorable J.V. Vaishampayan , Dean, Commerce Faculty University of Lucknow and  honorable B.L. Bajpai Ex-HOD Department of Business Administration, University of Lucknow. Paper presenters compete for coveted Best Paper award under category of Faculty and Research Scholars. The Winner under faculty category was Varsha Dhande and Sujeet Gupta SSA Institute Kanpur and Runner Up was Mr. Shashi Kr Gujarati SMS Varanasi. The Winner under Research Scholar category was Syed Qamar Abbas PGDM-III Sem SMS Lucknow and Runner Up was Ghanshyam and Dharen Pandey from FMS BHU Varanasi.

The Valedictory session concludes with Prize distribution by honorable Dr. Amerendra Sahoo.

I am pleased to inform you all that ‘SMS PRASTUTI -2012’, the
inter-institute summer training internship competition was held at SMS
Lucknow on 6th October, 2012.

The guests on this occasion were Mr. Pooshan Upadhyay (Managing Partner,
Kanoon Margdarshak) and Mr. Man Singh Kushwaha who were also there in the
judge’s panel.

40 students from 12 different B-schools took part in this competition.

HR Conclave 2012

Human Resource plays an important role in the future of Indian economy. School of Management Sciences, Lucknow organized H.R.-Conclave’ 2012 in collaboration with CII, U.P. Chapter on 28^th September, 2012.

The program started with the welcome address of C.E.O. of School of Management Sciences Mr. Sharad Singh. He welcomed Honorable Minister of State Uttar Pradesh (Independent Charge) Shri Arvind Singh ‘Gope’, Mr. G.B. Patnaik Principal Secretary to Honorable Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Alok Saxena, Chairman CII, U.P. Chapter.  Mr. Jayant Krishna, Principle Consultant TATA Consultancy Services, Dr. C.M. Dwivedi Global Head (HRD) Datamatics Global Services and H.R. Heads of some of India’s top companies too participated in the conclave. Mr. Singh said that, “Now the time has come for reducing the distance between corporate and educationists. Practice and theory put together will allow for quantum jump of Indian Economy”.

In his address, Chief Guest Honorable Minister Mr. Arvind Singh ‘Gope’ shared his views and said “Entire world is recovering from recession and this is the right time for improving skills of corporate workers”. He advised, H.R. heads of corporate sector for taking care of workers, so that they can give their best to the organization. He further reiterated to the heads of corporate houses that workers who were retrenched in the recession period must be re-instantiated & this process should be quick.   

The guest of honor Mr. G.B. Pattnaik Principle Secretary to Honorable Governor Uttar Pradesh, voiced his opinion in favour of giving the humane touch to the work force by corporate houses. He also said, “Today’s corporate houses employ bright & intelligent youth giving them the best salary in industry but they seldom focus on their family life and stressed out working conditions.

Mr. Jayant Krishna, Chief Consultant, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said, “Human Resources has always been in need for improvement of bottom and top line workers”. This can be achieved by improved co-operation and training of human resource. He added that, in the present world everything is performance driven and to achieve excellence in performance, organizations need to focus on employees and infact more than their customers. Center of gravity of global business is shifting Asia and companies from India are acquiring foreign companies. Hence, now the world is becoming flatter and Indian work force is now treated as global citizens.

Mr. Alok Saxena, Chairman CII U.P. addressed H.R. heads of the different corporate houses and said that “Economic health of any organization is linked with the H.R. policies of that particular company. Our human resource has to be flexible, as per the need and demand of time. India and other emerging countries has combination of cheap labor and modern technology, which can push forward our corporate sector.

Dr. C.M. Dwivedi asserted that, “Future of economic leadership will depend greatly on human resource”. He stressed upon the different aspects of human resource and their impact on Indian context. He further said that, only 45 % of the graduates are employable and the remaining lot needs to be brushed up according to the corporate demand, in which the concept of finishing school may play a great role. It’s a matter of pride for India that, in the world only 3 companies are 6 sigma certified of which apart from global giants G.E. and Motorola the third one is Mumbai Dabbawala. Human Resource community may also look in the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility, while recruiting, in which they can consider differently abled people as employees in their different functions.

Ms. Kiran Singh G.M Mother Dairy put forward options available with human resources and said, in times to come, state of Indian economy will be shaped by human resource.

During the course of the conclave the H.R. Heads of different companies discussed the various aspects and issues related to human resource and ways of enriching human resource.

The conference gave really fruitful insights to the HR matters starting from recruitment and ending towards change management. All the speakers focussed on the upcoming challenges in HR & SHRM arena and discovering new horizons. It was beneficial in a multidisciplinary manner not only for the students but also for the HR dignitories of various reputed corporate houses.
